Northeast Party House

Music legends have graced The Gov’s Venue stage over the last 30 years, the latest of which is Naarm-based electronic dance group, Northeast Party House. NPH is already an icon of the Aussie music scene, so I was surprised to hear that their Enhancer Tour was opting for a cosier venue instead of the larger Hindley Street Music Hall or Lion Arts Factory. This however, actually lended itself to creating a more immersive, electrifying, and intimate live experience that exceeded my (already high) expectations.

Expect to hear all of your fave NPH bangers like Magnify, Dominoes and Youth Allowance, plus newer music which keeps the vibes through the course of their one-hour set. I honestly dare anybody to try and stay still. NPH’s inter-group chemistry is palpable, their dynamic is easy-going and they interact with the crowd in a light-hearted way that is very on-brand for alternative Aussie music – they even stuck around post-show to meet with the fans before heading to their after-party gig. I attended with a small group, some longtime fans and others complete newbies – both left the gig with dance-induced flushed faces and an energy that set them up for the rest of the night.

NPH is set to become one of the biggest electronic musicians in our history, and they’re already the crème de la crème of the Aussie electro industry. Whether you’re a veteran fan or just looking for a high-intensity way to kick off the night, look no further than the Enhancer tour.

Northeast Party House is touring across the country until mid-September. For tickets, head here.
