Adelaide Fringe production powerhouse and fan favourite Strut and Fret are at it again with this year’s circus extravaganza, The Party. If you found yourself scrolling through the Garden of Unearthly Delight’s program frantically searching for Blanc de Blanc or LIFE the Show, unfortunately you won’t find it. Instead Strut and Fret have decided to invite you to the wildest party in the Fringe’s existence with their contribution to the Spiegeltent. Expect spectacular dancing, gravity defying stunts and circus acts, weaved into a storyline that’s surprisingly linear, and tied together with impeccable comedic timing. It's outrageous and not for the feint of heart, but those who can handle it will have the time of their life.
To say lots about this show would discredit the viewing experience. Divulging what goes on at The Party will never do it justice, and the feats performed inside the Spiegeltent are reserved for invitees and attendees as an exclusive, unique Fringe experience. If you can, I’d recommend splurging on Ringside VIP tickets or premium seating. While the viewing area is small and the booths towards the back offer a fun, intimate setting for larger groups, the immersion from sitting amongst the performers leverages the value of the ticket to its fullest extent. As one of the pricier Fringe shows however, expect a world-class experience and non-stop entertainment no matter where you sit.
Another pro-tip? Use the intermission nestled in the middle of The Party’s 2 hour runtime to buy a glass of pink party punch at the in-house bar. It’s a signature cocktail that encapsulates the energy and fun of the show and enhances the overall sensory experience.
Unsurprisingly, The Party is another wild success from Strut and Fret. Don’t spend your time pining for classics like Blanc de Blanc - masterful as it may be - but instead embrace the modern, electric, unique and utterly entertaining The Party which will undoubtedly have you moving in your seat, if not on stage.
